AI for educators, by educators

We've sat where you're sitting. We've felt the
pressure you're under.

About Us

Curriculum AI wasn't founded in a boardroom. It was born from the very real, very painful experience of watching a training provider close its doors — not because the teaching was poor, but because the compliance burden became impossible to manage.

Before any of this existed, there was a provider doing everything right. Genuinely committed learners. Dedicated staff. Courses that were making a real difference. By every measure of what education should be, it was working.

But running a training provider in the UK isn't just about the quality of what you deliver. It's about proving it, documenting it, and surviving the weight of a regulatory framework that never stands still.

The compliance load was relentless. ESFA funding rules that shifted annually. Ofsted

preparation that consumed weeks of management time. Evidence portfolios were

assembled manually, late into evenings, with the persistent fear that something critical had been missed. Staff spending the majority of their working week not teaching, but chasing registers, formatting certificates, and answering the same administrative queries on repeat.

"We weren't failing our learners. We were failing our paperwork. In the end, the paperwork won."

When the provider ultimately closed, it wasn't a dramatic collapse. It was an exhausted one. The systems weren't in place to sustain the compliance requirements. The margins were too thin to hire the additional administrative support that might have bridged the gap.

And the irony — the painful, maddening irony — is that the tools to prevent it already existed.

Artificial intelligence, applied correctly, could have automated the administrative tasks that were consuming the business. It could have monitored compliance posture in real time, flagged gaps before an inspection, generated the documentation that was taking hours each week, and freed the team to do what they came to do: teach.

We didn't know that at the time. The sector didn't have anyone translating those tools into the specific, regulated, compliance-first language that independent training providers actually operate in. That's the gap Curriculum AI was created to fill.

What that experience taught us

The closure wasn't unique. Across the sector, capable, committed providers are being ground down by the same pressures — not because they're bad at their jobs, but because the administrative and regulatory burden has grown faster than their capacity to absorb it.

We built Curriculum AI around three things that would have made the difference.

Compliance that protects you — not a report card delivered after the damage is done.

A continuous, live view of your compliance posture, so you are never caught out by an inspection, a funding audit, or a regulatory update you didn't know was coming.

Admin that runs itself.

The tasks currently consuming 40% of your team's week — attendance chasing, certificate formatting, the same FAQ answered fifty times — are automatable. Every hour recovered is an hour returned to teaching, mentoring, and growing your provision.

Expertise that speaks your language.

Generic AI consultancies don't understand ESFA funding rules or what an Ofsted inspector is actually looking for. We do — because we've marked the papers, managed the portfolios, and lived inside these frameworks. That difference is everything.

About Matthew Orchard — Founder

Matthew Orchard spent years working inside the training provider sector — not advising from a distance, but delivering on the front line. As a Skills Coach, he chased attendance registers at 11 pm. As a Curriculum Developer, he built courses against ESFA standards under pressure to get them to market in weeks. As Head of Marketing and IT at a training provider, he saw how the right technology could transform an organisation's efficiency — and how the wrong approach to it could create new risks entirely.

That combination of frontline experience and technological capability is rare. Most AI consultants who approach the education sector do so from the outside — technically competent, but without the instinctive understanding of what an Ofsted inspector is actually looking for, what a safeguarding gap looks like in practice, or why a provider's staff might be using ChatGPT in secret simply because nobody has given them a safe, sanctioned way to do it.

Matthew built Curriculum AI with a specific promise: that every solution it delivers will be designed around the regulatory outcome from the very first conversation. Not as an afterthought. Not as a checklist bolted on at the end. As the foundation on which every recommendation, every automation, and every implementation is built.

He holds a Level 5 qualification in Learning and Skills Teaching, an ILM Level 5 in Leadership and Management, a specialist certification in AI for Education, and a Diploma in Digital Marketing — achieved in the top 20% nationally. He has delivered apprenticeship programmes, led digital transformation projects, and now applies all of it to a single purpose: making sure no training provider goes through what he's already witnessed.

This is AI for educators, by an educator. And the difference between understanding this sector from the inside and learning about it from the outside is the reason Curriculum AI exists — and the reason it works.

Our mission

To ensure that no training provider closes because the compliance burden became too heavy to carry — by making intelligent, compliant AI the standard, not the exception.
